Merrick Woods is bounded by Sunrise Highway to the south, Merrick Avenue to the west, Camp Avenue to the north and Bellmore to the east. Its central location within Merrick puts residents within minutes of the many shops and restaurants along Merrick Avenue, the Meadowbrook Parkway (for quick travel north to Roosevelt Field Mall, or south to Jones Beach), Sunrise Highway, and the Merrick Long Island Rail Road Station.
Elementary school aged children (grades K-6) are served by the Merrick and North Merrick Union Free School Districts. Children living in the southern part of Merrick Woods attend Chatterton School, while those living further north near Camp Avenue attend Camp Avenue School.
Merrick's middle and high school aged children are served by The Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District. Seventh and eighth grade students living in Merrick attend either Merrick Avenue Middle School or Grand Avenue Middle School, while Merrick's high school sudents (grades 9-10) attend Calhoun High School.
