This highly desirable community, centrally located on the south shore of Nassau County, is not just a pretty place to live, it also offers easy access to some of the biggest atractions Long Island has to offer. Bordered on the west by the Meadowbrook Parkway, a few minutes in the car will get you to Jones Beach or Lido and Long Beach to the south, or Roosevelt Field Mall and the surrounding "Hub" of Nassau County to the north.
In addition to the Meadowbrook Parkway, Merrick has a Long Island Railroad station (train rides to New York City take between 40 and 50 minutes, depending on whether you get an express) and the Southern State Parkway, Sunrise Highway and Merrick Road running through it.
Merrick and North Merrick residents are primarily served by the Merrick Union Free School District (K-6th grade) and the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District (7th through 12th grade), with students in southern Merrick attending John F. Kennedy High School in south Bellmore, and students in northern Merrick attending Calhoun High School.
