The Briarcliff area of North Merrick is located just south of the Southern State Parkway and just west of Merrick Avenue. Briarcliff Drive, which the area is named after, winds through the center of the neighborhood. Briarcliff owes its popularity to its aesthetically pleasing lay-out and its prime location, which puts residents within a few minutes' drive from the shopping and restaurants on Merrick Avenue, the Merrick Long Island Rail Road Station, Sunrise Highway, and both the Southern State and Meadowbrook Parkways (which, together, offer speedy access to all destinations north, south, east and west).
Elementary school aged children living in the Briarcliff area are served by the Merrick Union-Free School District, and most attend Old Mill Road Elementary School or Camp Avenue Elementary School. Middle and high school aged children are served by the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District. Middle-schoolers attend Merrick Avenue Middle School, while high schoolers attend Calhoun High School.
